Born on January 2, 1993, in Vilgertshofen, Marcel Schrötter began his career in 2002, the year in which he won the Pocket Bike Junior Cup in Germany. He was nine years old at the time.

He then distinguished himself in the ADAC Mini Bike Cup. In 2005, under the watchful eye of Toni Mang, five-time world champion, Schrötter shone during training sessions and finished third in the ADAC Junior Cup, then second the following year.

Guided by Mang from 2007, Schrötter joined the IDM 125 championship. He quickly made a name for himself, finishing fifth overall in his first season. In 2008, he won the IDM title.

At the same time, Schrötter took his first steps on the international scene with a wildcard at the German Grand Prix in 2008 and three others in 2009, including one in Valencia which resulted in a fifth place.

Schrötter made an immediate impact in the 125cc World Championship in 2010, supported by Mahindra, then in Moto2 in 2012.

He rode for SAG, Tech3 and AGR before joining Dynavolt Intact GP in 2017, a team with which he achieved three top ten finishes despite a scaphoid injury.

In 2018, he made progress by achieving his first podium at Misano and finishing eighth despite another injury. Always competitive, Schrötter scored four more podium finishes up to 2020.

He remained in Moto2 until 2022, during which season he took part in his first WorldSSP race in Australia, before joining the category full-time in 2023 with MV Agusta Reparto Corse.

With seven podiums, he finished the season in third position. Having struggled more in 2024, he finished four times in the top three and secured another Top 5 in the championship.

He was also called up by the Ajo team in Moto2 to replace the injured Deniz Öncü for three races. With his first victory still on the horizon, the SHARK rider is aiming for the top in 2025.
