Having been crowned Italian Pre-Moto3 (CIV) champion in 2017, Matteo Bertelle joined the European Talent Cup in 2018. With two wins in Jerez, he finished fifth in the standings.

The following year, he made his debut in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, where he scored a podium and finished 14th overall.

After a more difficult 2020 season (16th with 41 points), he bounced back in 2021 with a win at the Sachsenring and a seventh place in the championship.

At the same time, he competed in CEV Moto3, finishing 23rd in 2019 and 21st in 2021, while obtaining a wildcard for the San Marino GP with the Bardahl VR46 Riders Academy team.

He secured a permanent seat on a Moto3 bike with Avintia, but with 16 points scored in 10 races and a crash at the Sachsenring that ruptured his knee ligaments, he was sidelined for the second half of the season.

Back in 2023 with the Rivacold Snipers Team, he scored two top seven finishes in Thailand and Qatar and finished 18th in the championship.

In 2024, he did almost the same again with the same number of points.

The Italian is a new SHARK rider for 2025 and has joined the MTA Team with the aim of finishing in the top five overall.
