Joshua Whatley
Born in Chertsey on 2 September 2005, Joshua Whatley, like his teammate Scott Ogden, first made his name on home soil.
He cut his teeth in the British FAB Racing Championship at the age of 6. In 2015 he won both the AC40 and MiniGP50 titles.
In 2016 he won the LC40 category and finished second in the MiniGP70. At the age of 9, he became the first British driver to be granted a waiver to compete in the official BSB test in Cartagena, Spain.
From there he went on to compete in the RFME Challenge 80 Spanish Cup.
In 2016, the FAU55 Racing team, led by former rider Hector Faubel, invited him to compete in the RFME Moto4 Championship in 2017 and the European Talent Cup in 2018, while also competing in the British Talent Cup, where he finished fourth with three podiums.
He spent two seasons in the European Talent Cup and another two in the Junior series, recording several top-10 finishes. Finishing 19th in the 2021 Junior GP, he caught the eye of former Northern Ireland rider Michael Laverty, who signed him up to take his first steps into the World Championship the following year in the colours of the VisionTrack Racing Team.
He didn't score any points that season. He opened his account in 2023 and scored five points during the year. The SHARK rider is now expected to prove himself in 2024 with the MLav Racing team, still managed by Laverty.
